WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: ARNIE ROBINSON INVITE

The Lady Hornets took a trip down south to San Diego Mesa College for the 4th Annual Arnie Robinson Invitational this past Saturday.

This is the site for this year's state championships in May and the Hornets had a chance to preview the venue to see what is was all about competing with other colleges they had not seen outside of their conference schools.

The distance runners liked the track as Belen Gonzalez and Kim Flores ran their personal bests in the 800-meter run 2:33.23 and 2:43.00, respectively. Belen finished 9th overall. Flores and Gonzalez both ran the 1500-meter running very close to their best times of the season. Belen's effort was 5:15.97 and Kim's was 5:44.56 .

On the field side, Madison Fitzpatrick finished 9th overall in the shot put, and teammate Sydney Chavers was 11th.

The throwers continued to work on their technique for this meet, and they are making good progress striving for their goals. Madison, Cydney, and Amber competed in all of the throws, and had better form throwing close to their season bests.

"The first part of my throws are good and now I need to work on that finish", claimed Amber Hernandez.

Up Next: The Hornets have a bye this week, but will resume completion on Friday, April 15th for an OEC event with Saddleback and Riverside City College at Riverside.
