WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: GOOD THINGS AFOOT

The Lady Hornets competed in the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational on Friday with great success competing against other community colleges and four-year athletes.

"It is a great meet for these athletes to test their performance levels against other schools", Hornet Head Coach Gina Bevec.

There were many personal records for these young women, and it is happening at the right time of the season.

On the in field, six personal efforts were achieved for the throwers. Marianne Gourd had three personal records (PR) in the shot put, discus and hammer events. Her shot put flew 35' 1.75" and has her ranked fifth place in the OEC rankings. The hammer is coming along and had a six foot improvement of 118' 11" and moved her to seventh place in the OEC. The discus is slowly getting out there as she tossed a 100' 8" for her PR.

Yessenia Gutierrez had a great day in the hammer with a 16 foot improvement of 94' 5" and her discus moved her to ninth place overall in the OEC rankings with a 95' 9" toss.

Jacqueline Goodbeau achieved a small improvement in the hammer for a 86' 2" mark.

The track was good to the Hornets as six personal improvements happened in the sprints and middle distance events.
