W. WATER POLO: ALL-OEC - JACKSON MVP!

The 2021 Orange Empire Conference champion Hornets had 8 players earn All-OEC honors that included Charley Jackson being selected as the MVP.

Sophomore Charley Jackson marks the third consecutive season in which the Hornets brought home MVP honors. Bryanna Santis was the 2018 and 2019 OEC MVP. This season, Jackson did a little bit of everything for her Hornet team. In 37 games played, she accumulated 27 goals, 45 assists, 49 steals, and had 9 blocked shots. Jackson also earned Honorable Mention honors in 2019.

Making 1st Team All-OEC were freshmen Adrianna Wong, Neida Torres, and Julissa Velazquez. Another all-around player, Wong scored 61 goals, had 61 assists (conference leader), 68 steals, and 3 blocks in 37 games played. The conference-scoring leader, Torres tossed in 88 goals, had 14 assists, and 23 steals. Velazquez led the conference in assists with 74. She also had 51 goals and 48 assists.

Earning 2nd Team honors was sophomore Tarsis Ledezma and freshman Kathryn Whittingham. A team leader, Ledezma scored 28 goals, dished out 29 assists, and had 35 steals in 37 games. First-year goalkeeper, Whittingham led the OEC in saves with 227. 

Honorable Mention selections were freshmen Jordyn Lughart and Samantha Lechuga. Lughart contributed 36 goals, 34 assists, and 28 steals, while Lechuga had 8 goals, 15 assists, and 37 steals. 

Head Coach Gabriel Martinez was tabbed as the 2021 Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year. This is the 5th time that Coach Martinez has earned this honor.
