HIGH QUALITY H2O POLO SIGNINGS

Mendoza, Storman, Torres, and Ledezma all signed with four-year schools on Friday morning as the Hornet water polo team says goodbye to the standout sophomores.

Americul Mendoza decided to stay local signing with Cal State Fullerton. A two-year player that came to FC via Valencia High, Mendoza played on the 2019 state and conference championship team. This past season, Americul played on the Orange Empire Conference-winning team and had 2 goals with 5 assists in 16 games. The faculty and staff at Fullerton College watched Americul grow up from a little girl into a fine human being as her mom is Hornet softball coach Speedy Mendoza.

Alexis Storman will be playing for Ottawa University in Surprise, Arizona. Out of Pacifica High, Storman came to FC as a first-year student in 2019 and was on the state and conference championship team. This past season in the goalie position, Alexis had 114 saves in 26 games for the Orange Empire Conference Champion Hornets.

Maggie Moreno will be keeping it local signing with D2 powerhouse Whittier College. A Los Altos High grad, Moreno will not have to travel too far from home to study and play for the Poets. On this past season's OEC title-winning squad, Maggie scored 33 goals, had 21 assists, and 14 steals.

Tarsis Ledezma will be joining her teammate Alexis Storman at Ottawa University in the fall. Ledezma came from Savanna High to Fullerton College in 2018 and helped the team to an OEC title while scoring 29 goals with 5 assists in 32 games. Redshirting in 2019, Tarsis led the Hornets to another OEC title this past season scoring 28 goals, had 29 assists, and 35 steals.

With these players leaving for the next level, the Hornets have some big holes to fill for the 2022 season this fall. The FC women's water polo team under head coach Gabriel Martinez has won 5 Orange Empire Conference championships in the last 7 years.
