WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: SOCAL QUALIFIERS

The Hornets ran at Mason Regional Park in Irvine last Friday for the Orange Empire Conference Championships hosted by Orange Coast College.

The running conditions were excellent as the course was flat, fast, and mostly on sidewalk walkways.

The women finished in sixth place with 143 points with sophomore Andrea Mendez leading the way with a 10th place finish out of 54 runners for the 5K race. Mendez received a medal and was chosen 2nd Team All-Conference.

There was a small gap between the second runner by Belen Gonzalez who finished in 27th place. Breanna Arroyo made a great move towards Belen in the middle of the race finishing in 36th place. Ana Lopez Rashjal, Mystique Martinez, and Janeira Marin finished up respectively within six places of each other.

Up Next: The Hornet team finish made it possible to receive an at-large berth to Southern California Regional Championships to be held on November 6th at Mission Bay in San Diego. Race time will be at 11:00 am.
