BASEBALL: HORNETS TAKE GOLDEN WEST

The Hornets did their thing at home Friday beating Golden West College 3-2 to take the three-game series.

It was a pitcher's duel that saw the Fullerton pitchers hold GWC to only 6 hits.

Ryan Aguirre got it started early for FC when he doubled to left center in the third inning bringing in Monte Montenegro.

The Rustlers evened the score at 1-1 in the fourth inning on a passed ball that gave Ezele Wicks the chance to cross home plate from third base.

The Hornets did some game-changing damage in the fourth when Jesse Hayes hit a two-run bomb over the ivy.

GWC snuck in an unearned run on the Hornets in the fifth inning on a SAC fly, but it would not be enough as Fullerton held strong for the victory.

Sean Henry (3-1) earned his third win of the season going 7 innings. He only allowed 6 hits and 0 earned runs with 1 K. Reliever David Olson went held the Rustlers scoreless tossing 1.2 innings and Gerardo Ramirez got the save getting the last out catching the batter looking.

Up Next: The Hornets (9-9 overall, 2-1 OEC) will host Santa Ana College on Tuesday, March 13th for the start of another three-game Orange Empire Conference series. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
