BASEBALL: THE FINAL HOME GAME

BASEBALL: THE FINAL HOME GAME

It was an emotional start to the baseball game between Fullerton and Golden West on Thursday afternoon as the FC baseball team welcomed back teammate Josh Sanchez, and longtime skipper Nick Fuscardo managed his final game on Hornet Field.

Fullerton may have lost to the Rustlers 15-5, but something bigger than the game happened prior to the first pitch. Center fielder Josh Sanchez made his way out to the field after suffering a serious head injury on February 23rd. Josh threw out the first pitch with Hornet athletes from all of the FC sports programs, staff, family, and fans there on the field to support him.

It was also Sophomore Day for those two year players who were making their final appearance on the home field. Recognized by Fuscardo were Josh Sanchez, Leo Chao, Patrick Showalter, Ryan Stephens, Monte Montenegro, David Olson, Ryan Penalber, Tyler Becker, Alex Gonzalez, Taed Heydinger, PJ Gordon, Richard CanalesConnor Tousignant, Brian Marquez, Jake Lacheman, and Sal Diaz.

Soon after, Coach Nick Fuscardo was honored by FC Athletic Director Scott Giles and Fullerton City Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Fitzgerald all for his 33 years of service as the head coach of the baseball program. As it currently stands, Fuscardo has 665 total wins at Fullerton College, the most in the program's history.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-26, 5-15) will play their last game of the 2019 season on Friday, April 26th at Golden West College. The first pitch goes out at 2:00 pm.
