TO THE SUPER REGIONALS

No. 9 Fullerton College finished off No. 16 Pasadena City College 3-1 in game two at home Saturday advancing the team to the 3C2A Super Regionals.

Although the game was played on Hornet Field, 3C2A rules for game two made Fullerton the visiting team that led it off at the plate in the top of the first.

The game was scorelss until the top of the fourth when Trevor Schmidt powered a singled through the left side scoring two runners in Landon Runge and Ryan Kirk.

Pasadena cut FC's lead in half in the bottom of the fifth on Bryan Richman's triple to right center that plated Jaden Guzman.

Holding a 2-1 lead, the Hornets added an insurance run in the eighth when Landon Runge cracked a single to right field that gave Noah Rodriguez the chance to cross home plate.

Andrew Segovia got the nod to start it off on the bump throwing 4.2 solid innings with 3 hits against, 1 earned run, had 2 walks, and 3 Ks. Andrew Carren (4-3) worked the rest of the game (4.1 innings) to snag the win with only 1 hit against, no runs, no walks, and had 3 Ks. 

Having multi-hit games were Trevor Schmidt (2 for 4 with 2 RBI) and Andrew Pyle (2 for 4).  

Up Next: The 3C2A Super Regionals - The No. 9 seeded Hornets (25-17 overall) will play at LA Valley College May 9-11 for a three-team series with No. 5 Saddleback (26-16) and No. 4 LA Valley (36-6). Game one will take place on Thursday, May 9th with Fullerton playing OEC rival Saddleback. The game time has yet to be determined. Click here to view the bracket.
