FREEZING UP FRESNO

The Hornets won their second straight at home Tuesday beating Fresno City College 8-1 in a non-conference matchup.

It was a cold and cloudy day for a baseball game, but the FC bats were hot as two home runs made the difference for the win. After Diego Vazquez drove in Jacob Larson on a double in the third inning, Trevor Schmidt cranked a shot over the right field ivy for a three-run shot that brought in Vazquez and Dillon Anderson. In the fourth, Noah Rodriguez hammered a two-run homer to left field putting 6 unanswered runs on the board.

The Hornets made it 8-0 in the bottom of the fifth when Hunter Billingsley hit a two-run single to left that plated Schmidt and Anderson.

Fresno City managed to get one run across in the top of the eighth when Jaycob Villalpando worked the count for a walk with bases loaded that scored Elijah Moultrie.

Redshirt freshman Julian Castro (1-1) threw a strong 5-innning game earning his first win as a Hornet. Castro only allowed 3 hits, had no runs against, no walks, and 4 K's. Ashton McNaughton came in for 2 innings with 2 hits against, had 2 walks, and a strikeout. Will Valenzuela finished off the game (1.2 innings) with no hits, no runs, and no walks.

Up Next: Fullerton (3-3 overall) will hit the 57 North this Thursday, February 4th for an away-game at Mt. San Antonio College at 2:00 pm (rain permitting).
