Santa Barbara
The FC baseball squad played Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday underneath the dark clouds of Fullerton and lit up the scoreboard with a 15-2 non-conference win.
With the win over the Vaqueros, the Hornets got back on track after breaking up a four-game win streak at Long Beach City College Monday with a close 7-6 loss. Fullerton is now 6-4 overall, while Santa Babara City bumps down to 3-4 in the overall standings.
The Hornets scored a run in every inning but the eighth while piling up 16 total hits to the Vaquero's 5. Trevor Schmidt led the way going 4-6 at the plate with 2 doubles, 4 RBI and a run scored. In fact, 6 FC players, including Schmidt, had multi-hit games in Nate Pone (3-6), Dillon Anderson (2-3), Jake Starr (2-2 / 1 triple), Diego Vazquez (2-3 / 2 triples), and Noah Rodriguez (2-5 / 1 home run).
Julian Castro got the start on the mound for Fullerton putting in 4 strong innings of work. He allowed 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, and had 1 strikeout. Manny Lopez earned the win going 2.2 innings with no hits or runs. He had 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Peyton Lee pitched for an inning and gave up no runs, had no hits against, with 1 strikeout. Joel Sanchez tossed the final inning with no runs or hits allowed.
Up Next: The Hornets (6-4 overall) will host Cerritos College on Friday, February 14th, unless is rains, for another non-conference matchup. Game time is at 1:00 pm.
