FOOTBALL: TIGERS TRUMP HORNETS

The #3 FC football team fell victim to #4 Riverside City College's hard-nosed rushing attack Saturday night in a 36-13 non-conference rout at RCC's Wheelock Stadium.

The loss knocks FC's record to 4-2 overall while the win boosts Riverside to 4-1 overall. Both teams remain undefeated in their respective conferences.

The Tigers took the opening kickoff and hit pay dirt 3.5 minutes into the game and the Hornets never recovered.

RCC led, 12-0, at the 6:09 mark thanks to a safety and a 31-yard field goal by Camacho.

Fullerton's Casey Eyman kicked a couple of field goals (23 yds and 32 yds) in the first half, but the Hornets trailed 22-6 by the end of the second quarter. It was the first time the FC offense was held without a first half TD since their loss against Butte College at the state championship game last December.

The Fullerton offense struggled on the ground as the Tigers allowed only 15 yards. The offense totaled 231 yards.

The Hornets' only touchdown of the game came with two minutes left in the contest on a 3-yard pass from Joey Verhaegh to Howard Gauta. Verhaegh was 20 of 37 for 191 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception.

Up Next: The Hornets will look to rebound when they take on Santa Ana College for the legendary 92nd "Key to the County Game" at Eddie West Field on Saturday, October 18th. Kickoff will be at 1:00 pm.
