FOOTBALL: ALL-AMERICAN & STATE HONORS

Last Thursday, the All-State and All-America teams were announced by the CCCFCA (California Community College Football Coaches Association) and the JC Athletic Bureau with three Hornets being honored.

Defensive tackle Josh Tarango earned 1st team All-America honors along with 1st Team All-State honors. The Central Conference MVP racked up 58 tackles, 12 sacks, 2 breakups, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 forced fumble.

Kick returner Kashan Griffin also earned 1st Team All-America and State honors. Griffin broke the school record for most touchdown kick returns in a season (4), and nearly broke the record for most kick return yards in a season (702). His longest return was 100 yards.

Defensive back Xavion Steele was a 1st Team All-State selection leading Fullerton in breakups (12) and interception return yards (85). Steele was second on the team in tackles (59), had 2 interceptions, and 2 sacks on the season.

The final state poll also came out last Thursday with Fullerton finishing 21st overall (tied with Southwestern College).
