No. 1 seeded Fullerton proves to be too much for No. 16 Allan Hancock ending the Bulldogs season 68-59 Saturday night in the Hornets Nest.
It was a sweet-revenge win tonight after Allan Hancock ended Fullerton's season prematurely in 2018.
Matching one another three pointer to three pointer and dunk for dunk, the Hornets and Bulldogs fought it out in the first half like two prizefighters. AHC's Diego Lucas opened the game with a three and FC's Jailen Moore answered right back. With the game tied at 23 at the 4-minute mark, Ronne Readus powered down a crowd-pleasing dunk. In the Bulldog's next possession, Trenton Mitchell matched it with a dunk of his own. With a second left in the first half, Lance Coleman II drained a nice tear-dropper with a hand in his face putting the Hornets up 33-27 to end the half.
The first five minutes of the second half was another battle with Allan Hancock taking a 40-39 lead. The Hornets moved their game up another level going on 20-5 run breaking the Bulldog's spirit. It was Coleman II three-pointer that gave Fullerton a 16-point lead with just over 5 minutes left to play. AHC did their best to get back in it cutting the deficit down to 6 (60-54) with a minute left in regulation, but Fullerton had too much momentum on their side to let this one slip away.
Lance Coleman II led all scorers with 23 points. He was 4-10 from three-point range. Ronne Readus also had a big night scoring 16 points with 19 rebounds. Jailen Moore (4-9 from beyond the arc) put up 12 points and Omajae Smith chipped in with 8 points.
Up Next: The No. 1 Hornets (26-3 overall) will play again on Saturday March 9th back in the Hornets Nest against No. 7 Southwestern College (24-4 overall). Tip off is at 7:00 pm. The winner of this game will advance to the CCCAA State Finals at Ventura College so come out and cheer for your Hornets!
