DRIVING FAR FOR THE WIN

The No. 1 (South) Hornets took a long trip up north to Cerro Coso College on Monday and made it worth their while winning the non-conference game 95-61. 

Fullerton took off with an early lead from the start and kept running with it. Up 26-9 at the 11:45 mark, the Hornets did not let up pushing their lead to 21 (37-16) thanks to a lay-in by Mason Vanbeenen at 7:42. By the time the two teams made it to their locker rooms at halftime, the score was 54-30. 

FC kept a strong hold on the lead throughout the second half pumping the lead up to 29 (81-52) on a jumper by Jeremiah Davis at 9:14. With the game at hand, the Hornets kept up the torrid pace for the remainder earning their fourth consecutive win on the season. 

Kobe Newton had a strong night shooting a game-high 22 points going 7-9 on the floor. He also added 6 rebounds. Jeremiah Davis also had a solid shooting line with 17 points (7-10) with 3 rebounds. Shaquil Bender dropped in 15 points with 4 rebounds, while Javon Jones scored 10 with 4 boards. Three Hornets scored 7 points in Sean Newman Jr., Sammy Howlin, and RJ Banks. Newman Jr. also had 7 assists and Mike Ofoegbu brought down 7 rebounds with 4 points. 

Up Next: Fullerton (4-0 overall) will play in the College of the Sequoias Giant Classic Crossover where they will open up with No. 1 (North) San Francisco City College on Thursday, November 17th at 5:00 pm.
