MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

The No. 2 in state Hornets made it seven straight wins Friday night rushing past LA Southwest at home 102-52.

The win marks the seventh consecutive victory for the 9-1 Hornets, while the LA Southwest loss lands the Cougars at 2-9 for the overall standings.

It was a wild start to the game with both teams battling it out to a 15-15 tie in the first 9 minutes. A three-pointer by Jaqari Miles set off an 18-6 run by the Hornets that gave the team some breathing room by 4:27. Fullerton kept its distance for the remainder of the first half holding a 42-30 lead.

The Hornets distanced themselves with another big run (20-7) at the top of the second half. It was Kairi Shepherd's deep three-pointer that put FC up 62-37 at the 13-minute mark. Fullerton continued to pour it on grabbing a 40-point lead with just over 7 minutes left in regulation. Jackson Hopps helped FC break the 100-point mark on a nice drive to the basket, while taking a foul. He hit the lone free throw completing the three-point-play.  

Four FC players scored in double-digits with Jaqari Miles leading the pack with 16 off the bench. Shawn Woodson also came off the bench to score 12, Addy G'Bye dropped 11, and Kairi Shepherd put up 10. Joe GrahovacJQ Strong, Justin Davis, and Jackson Hopps each scored 9 points. In all the Hornets were 16-32 from beyond the arc, shot 58.8% from the floor, and forced 18 turnovers that garnered 22 points.

At halftime Fullerton College recognized 10 outstanding students from different divisions across campus for their hard work in the classroom. FC President Dr. Cynthia Olivo along with FC Cheer Advisor Dr. Vicki Calhoun handed out Academic Achievement Awards to Danielle Narmi, Ethan Charpentier, Shawn Takhar, Ashley Cheng, Cindy Liang, Daniel Duarte, Suzy Eddleman, Brent Larson, Soobin Cho, and Logan Williams.

Up Next: The No. 2 FC men's basketball team (9-1 overall) will host the 38th Fullerton College Classic Crossover in the Hornets Nest December 13-14. On Friday, December 13th at 4:00 pm West LA will play San Diego City and at 6:00 pm the Hornets will host Modesto. On Saturday, December 14th at 4:00 pm San Diego City will play Modesto and at 6:00 pm Fullerton hosts West LA. Come out and watch some quality games while supporting your Hornets!
