HORNETS SAIL PAST PIRATES
The Hornets picked up a nice conference road-win on Wednesday night defeating Orange Coast College 84-61.
FC's victory puts the team at 14-2 overall with an Orange Empire Conference record of 3-1, while the Pirate defeat lands them at 4-13 overall with a winless OEC record of 0-4.
The Hornets came out with an 8-4 lead, but Orange Coast hit back tying the game up at 10-10 by the 13th minute. Jaqari Miles dropped in a deep three-point shot to kick off a 15-2 run that put Fullerton up 25-12 by the 7-minute mark. A Justin Davis layup with 2 minutes left in the half pushed the Hornet lead to 20 points (34-14).
At the start of the second half Joe Grahovac took the assist from Justin Davis for a slam-dunk for a 39-19 advantage. Fullerton managed to keep its distance for the remainder of the game extending its lead to 31 with 5 minutes left before walking off the court with a solid conference win.
As a team, Fullerton shot an impressive 63% from the floor, while hitting 56% (9 of 16) from the three-point arc. On the other side, OCC was 34% in shooting and was 20% (4 of 20) from beyond the arc.
Jaqari Miles came off the bench for a big night scoring a game-high 26 points. Joe Grahovac also stepped-up big scoring 23 points while adding 5 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 1 assist. Jackson Hopps put up 8 points with 4 assists, while Justin Davis scored 6 points, had 9 rebounds, 7 assists, a block.
Up Next: The Hornets (14-2, 3-1 OEC) bring it back home this Friday, January 10th when they welcome Saddleback College into the Nest for another conference matchup. Tipoff is at 6:00 pm.
