In Round Three of the Southern California Regionals, the No. 8 Hornets traveled down the road to No. 1 Long Beach City College on Tuesday and lost a hard-fought match against the Vikings in 2 OT's 1-0.
It was a great match-up between Long Beach and Fullerton as the Vikings featured one of the top offenses in the state with 55 goals, while the Hornets represented one of the best defensive units (.066 Goals against average/3rd in state).
Both teams had their chances in the first two halves just missing out on a few opportunities, but it was Nikolas Huebel's assist to Hector Tellez, who just cleared the goal in the 116th minute.
The FC men's soccer program had an excellent season becoming the first team in the program's history to go undefeated in conference-play and won its third straight OEC title, which was also a first for the Hornet program. The 2024 team also tied the record for most shutouts in a season with 12 shutouts tying the 2018 squad.
Head Coach Greg Aviles and his staff were awarded as the OEC Coaching Staff of the Year for the fifth time since Aviles took over the program in 2016.
