ADVANCING TO THE BIG STATE RACE

ADVANCING TO THE BIG STATE RACE

The Hornets are gearing up for their CCCAA State Championship appearance in Fresno on this Saturday morning.

The men's team qualified after finishing in 14th place at SoCal Regionals in Bakersfield.

The men had their best 1-5 gap of 43 seconds for the season.  The goal was to run as close as they could, and their practice has reflected that success. The men ran across the line accordingly:  Langley Turrietta (21:50, Cyrus Burton (21:50), Steven Castro (22:18), Luis Diaz (22:19), and Jakob Salvas (22:33), Orion Chavatipon (23:00), and Trent Snyder (23:16). Their overall team score was 429 points.

Eva Bond qualified as the 10th slotted individual runner advancing from SoCal Regional Championships, finishing 42nd overall with 19:58. Keeping up with an extremely busy schedule, Eva has learned to balance school, work/tutoring, running workouts, and is a part of the STEM program at FC.

The FC men's team has developed the same pattern as Eva learning to achieve high excellence in the classroom. Cyrus BurtonOrion ChavatiponJakob Salvas, and Trent Snyder are four of the top seven runners claiming All-Academic State Awards holding a GPA of 3.50 and above this season.

These student-athletes take on a heavy academic load and learn to achieve in the classroom while demonstrating a "team commitment" atmosphere when competing. We are proud of everyone and their success this season. We have just one more race with one more goal to achieve", Hornet Head Coach Gina Bevec.
