COMING UP BIG ON SOPHOMORE DAY

COMING UP BIG ON SOPHOMORE DAY: The Hornets pull off a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Gauchos 5-4 at home on Tuesday. The Fullerton coaching staff recognized the sophomores for both teams by giving them flowers and recognition before the game. It would be the last time that FC players Dani Applerose and Andrea Graves play on Hornet Field.

Down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning, Fullerton went on to score cored 4 runs to seal the victory in the last game of the season.

FC pitcher Venessa Meza got the win going 7 innings with 9 hits against, 4 earned runs, 1 strikeout, and 3 walks.

Catcher Emily Perez had two hits on the day, including the walk-off RBI that brought in LF Brittany Morales for the winning run. SS Tiffany Kaiser had 2 hits and a run. RF Andrea Graves had a hit, a run, and 2 RBIs. Morales had a hit with 2 runs and 1B Amanda Lang had a hit and an RBI.

It has been a tough couple of months for the Hornets as they recently snapped a 15-game losing streak while accumulating the worst record in school history (8-26, 3-18). Most teams would have folded under the circumstances and packed it in for the final games of the season, but this Hornet team's "Never Say Die" attitude gave them something to be proud of as the 2012 season comes to an end. Winning the final two games of the season against ranked teams in Golden West and Saddleback Colleges gives the FC softball program something to build on for next season.
