SOFTBALL: GOING TO THE SUPER REGIONALS!

After falling to #7 El Camino College in the first game of the SoCal Regionals, the Lady Hornets capped off the weekend with two consecutive wins over the Warriors advancing to the Super Regionals.

FC opened up the playoff series with a 3-2 heartbreaking loss on Saturday. The Hornets had a healthy 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh when the Warriors took control of the lead on SAC Fly, a ground out RBI, and then won the game on a wild pitch allowing a Warrior to score from third base.

On Sunday, Fullerton had to win the next to games to advance, and they managed to do just that beating El Camino in dramatic fashion 9-3 and 7-6.

In game two, Fullerton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a double to left center field by Anissa Loera scoring Nia Rodman. Evelyn Hernandez followed up with single to left bringing Melissa Madrigal home.

In the third Miranda Hernandez hit a SAC fly to center field scoring Becca Perez.

The Warriors tied it up in the bottom of the third, but Fullerton answered back in the fourth when Nia Rodman hit a 265 foot solo bomb over left field giving FC a 4-3 lead. From there, the Hornets never looked back scoring five unanswered runs to win the game.

In the third and final game of the series, the Hornets found themselves trailing 5-0, until the third inning when they broke out with four runs. Miranda Hernandez's single scored Alexis Pintado, Alyssa Dilay singled to left scoring Becca Perez, and then Nia Rodman ripped a single through the left side scoring Hernandez and Brigid Ruiz.

Fullerton took a 6-5 lead in the fifth on a double by Anissa Loera scoring Melissa Madrigal. Then Alejandra Hernandez cracked a single to right bringing Loera across home plate.

El Camino tied the game up 6-6 in the sixth, but FC ended the game in the seventh when Evelyn Hernandez singled to the right side allowing Rodman to score the games final run.
