SOFTBALL: RUIZ TO SONOMA STATE!

The Hornet's team MVP Brigid Ruiz has decided to continue her education and playing career at Sonoma State University.

Ruiz was stellar during her two seasons at Fullerton College helping the Hornets to two 20-win seasons and to two Southern California Regional playoff runs. She finished her career at Fullerton College with 232 strikeouts (2nd all-time), 38 career wins (4th all-time), 81 career appearances (1st all-time), and 436.2 career innings pitched (3rd all-time).

Brigid was twice voted 1st Team All-Conference and was voted to the 2016 All-Southern California team, along with her teammate Tiffiny Centeno.

Ruiz was recently voted by the Fullerton College Athletic Department as the Female Athlete of the Year.

"Brigid is definitely one of the greatest players I have ever coached. She will see great success at Sonoma State because she is a very hard worker that doesn't cut corners. Her work ethic, along with her passion, will have her competing at her best. She is deserving of every accolade, academically and athletically, she has received here at Fullerton College. I'm happy her collegiate dreams are coming true. Brigid is a true example of what a student-athlete is and I appreciate her loyalty to our program", Hornet Head Coach Marian Mendoza.
