SOFTBALL: GOING THE DISTANCE

SOFTBALL: GOING THE DISTANCE

The Hornets made it six wins in a row Friday afternoon at Santa Ana College beating the Dons 2-1 in a conference clash that went 9 innings.

Fullerton is now one game out of fourth place (behind Riverside) in the Orange Empire Conference. With only four conference games left in the season, the Hornets are getting hot at the right time as everyone fights it out for a playoff spot.

Elexa Rangel hit a double down the left line in the first inning and got it started for Fullerton as Sabrina Aguiano scored.

Santa Ana tied it up in the second inning when Mady Myers hit a single to center that brought Alex Camacho home.

The game remained locked up at 1 a piece until the ninth inning when the combo of Rangel and Aguiano struck again.

In the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line, the Dons produced two singles putting runners on first and second. Strong defense and solid pitching helped the Hornets in preserving the win.

FC starting pitcher Natasha Trujillo (15-11) tossed 6 innings with 1 earned run, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Reliever Shelby Boehmer (3-2) came in to throw 3 innings allowing only 4 hits and a walk for the win.

Up Next: Fullerton (19-15 overall, 9-8 OEC) will play at Saddleback College on Wednesday, April 18th at 5:00 pm.
