LONG BATTLE VS LONG BEACH ENDS UP A WINNER!

LONG BATTLE VS LONG BEACH ENDS UP A WINNER!

In a non-conference make-up game at home Monday, the No. 1 Hornets got past No. 8 Long Beach City College 4-3 in extra innings.

Due to a rain-out on March 18th, Fullerton and Long Beach battled it out on Monday for 9 innings with the Hornets winning their 8th straight game.

The Vikings jumped ahead early in this nailbiter scoring a run in the top of the first. Anaya Togia knocked a double to deep center field scoring Xiomei Geluz.

Fullerton bounced back big in the third taking a 3-1 lead thanks to a SAC Fly by Haley Garcia that plated Serina Vue. Veronica Moore's single brought in Cassidy Hornung, and Coco Siono locked in on a base hit through the right side scoring Jordan Elias.

Long Beach City cut into FC's lead in the fourth snagging a run from Togia's hit that plated Breanna Lucero.

The Vikings tied the game up in the fifth thanks to a shot that landed in right center field by pinch hitter Rene Sena that scored Lucero.

Both teams would stay knotted up until the ninth inning when Serina Vue started it off for the Hornets with a nice base hit to left center. Cassidy Hornung came up next dropping a nice sacrifice 1-3 bunt sending Vue to second. Vue soon ran to third on a passed ball, and then Jordan Elias entered the batter's box hitting a hard shot through the left side scoring Vue for the walk-off win.

FC pitcher Macy Brandl (13-1) was strong throwing 9 complete innings with 8 hits, 2 earned runs, had 2 walks, and struck out 7 batters.

Serina Vue was the hits leader for Fullerton going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Jordan Elias was 2 for 5 with a run scored and had the game-winning RBI.

Up Next: No. 1 in state Fullerton (22-3 overall, 12-0 OEC) will get back into conference-play tomorrow (April 9th) when they host Santiago Canyon for game one of the three-game series. The first pitch goes out at 3:00 pm.
