SWEEPS ALL AROUND

The Hornets competed a three-game conference sweep over Santiago Canyon College on Friday beating the Hawks 11-2. Then on Saturday, FC welcomed Antelope Valley to Hornet Field for a non-conference double-header and took both games from the Marauders by the matching scores of 3-1.

Friday's home game against Santiago Canyon gave Fullerton its 25th win on the season and 11th straight. FC took control early with 3 runs in the first inning thanks to a single by Veronica Moore, a double by Jianna Lopez, and a single by Milene Mendoza that scored Jordan Elias, Moore, and Lopez. Despite a two-run homer by SCC in the second inning, FC added two more runs in the bottom of the second on a double by Lopez that plated Haley Garcia and Elias. The Hornets sealed the game in the fourth dropping six unanswered runs on the Hawks. Allyson Fuentes (10-2) got the start and the win throwing 5 innings with 2 earned runs, had 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 Ks.

In game one against Antelope Valley on Saturday, the Hornets fell behind 1-0 on an error in the first inning, however Fullerton burned two runs across in the third to take the lead. An error allowed Cassidy Hornung to score, and Veronica Moore hit a SAC fly to center giving Jordan Elias the time to go home. Elias knocked in the third and final run of the game in the fifth inning on a shot to center that scored Caitlyn Stear. Macy Brandl (16-1) was incredible in this outing with 14 strikeouts while allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk.

The second game was another low scoring pitching duel. The first run of the game did not come across until the bottom of the fourth when Caitlyn Stear knocked a single to center scoring Serina Vue. The Hornets made it 3-0 in the sixth from an AVC error and Jordan Elias' single through the left side scoring Cassidy Hornung. The Marauders managed a run in the seventh, but FC pitcher Allyson Fuentes put a stop to the threat. Fuentes (11-2) was strong tossing seven innings with 4 hits against, 1 earned run, had 1 walk and 3 Ks.
