EXTRA INNING PUSH
The FC softball squad welcomed LA Mission College to Hornet Field on Saturday and pulled off a 1-0 victory in the 9th inning.
Still fighting for a playoff spot, the Hornets pulled off the non-conference win against the Eagles with 6 hits in a game then went scoreless until the ninth inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jianna Lopez came up with Veronica Moore on third base. Moore had got on after hitting a single to center. A wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt by Linsey Arostigue had moved her over. Lopez then ripped a single to right field scoring Moore for the game winner.
FC pitcher Grace Workman was lights-out going the whole 9 innings with only 3 hits against, had no runs, no walks, and 3 strikeouts for her 9th win on the season.
Offensively, it was Veronica Moore and Jianna Lopez that led the way with 2 hits a piece. Bethany Morrison and Milene Mendoza supplied the other two hits on the day.
Up Next: The Hornets (14-21 overall, 7-8 OEC) will play game one of a three-game OEC series at home with Saddleback College on Monday, April 21 at 2:00 pm.
