Fullerton's season continued to spiral out of control at home Friday night getting shelled 63-45 by Santa Ana College.
Trying to maneuver for a playoff spot, the loss hurts FC setting their overall record at 15-9 and notching their Orange Empire Conference record under .500 at 4-5. Santa Ana College locked down their second conference win of the season (2-6) and brought their overall record up to 8-16.
The first half was close with 4 lead changes and ended with the Dons holding on to a slim 22-21 lead.
The Hornets opened up the second half with some success taking 24-21 lead, but it was quickly erased with 17:26 left in regulation. From there, the Dons took advantage of Fullerton's poor shooting (17.9%) and ball handling (20 turnovers) taking their largest lead of 24 with 4:19 left in the game.
On the positive side, FC did out-rebound the Santa Ana 70-52.
SAC's Celia Duran came off the bench to tie the game high of 15 points along with FC's Abigail Abiva, who also came off the bench.
Up Next: The Hornets hope to put a stop to their slide when they travel to Saddleback College on Tuesday, February 10th. Game time is at 7:00 pm.
