
A WIN SOPHOMORE DAY SUNDAY & A WIN WEDNESDAY!
Coming fresh off its 11-6 win against Northern Arizona on Sunday, Fullerton kept its strong play going with a 16-4 road-victory against UC Irvine Wednesday night.
It was Sophomore Day last Sunday with the Hornets playing their final home game of the season against Northern Arizona. It was a great day as FC outlasted the Lumberjacks grabbing the needed win that keeps the team in line for a playoff spot. Sophomores honored prior to the game were Kealia Amorin, Aliyah Ortega, Robin Gaudette, Hailee Ritter, Victoria Lupotti, Valerie Cerda, and Tianna Hehl. For the contest, NAU took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, however the Hornets fought back with 2 unanswered goals in the second for a 4-3 edge by halftime. FC had a big third quarter outscoring NAU 5-1 sweeping away their opponent's momentum heading into the fourth. Up 9-4, FC held the Lumberjacks to only 2 goals, while scoring 2 of its own for an 11-6 victory. Brooklyn Peters led all scorers with 5 goals, while Neva David held her own with 3. Julia Schlacter scored 2 goals and Robin Gaudette scored 1 with 2 assists. Goalie Madison Lewis had 10 shots on goal with 4 saves on the day.
Wednesday night's match at UCI had the Hornets taking a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and then running up their lead to 7-1 by the halftime break. The Anteaters scored 2 goals in the third quarter, but FC clapped back with 3 in the third and 6 in the fourth to wrap up the win. Goals were had by Brooklynn Peters (4), Kealia Amorin (3), Victoria Lupotti (3), Tianna Hehl (2), Robin Gaudette (1), Valerie Cerda (1), Tiana Harrison (1), and Neva David (1). Dishing out 5 assists was Robin Gaudette. Goalie Madison Lewis had 10 shots against with 6 saves.
With one more game to go in the regular season, Robin Gaudette leads the nation in draw control with 53. The next best is Utah Tech's Tessa Mortensen with 48.
