PLAYOFF-BOUND HORNETS BEAT BRUINS

The FC women's lacrosse team played their final regular season match on the road Saturday knocking off UCLA's B team 12-6.

It was a needed win over the Bruins that kept the Hornets in line for the No. 4 slot in the upcoming Division 2 Regional Playoffs where they will play No.5 Cal Poly Slo B. Fullerton had a tough match against the Mustangs in early March and won it in a close 9-8 battle.

Against UCLA B, FC jumped all over the Bruins in the first quarter scoring 4 unanswered goals. The Bruins countered in the second with 3 goals of their own, but the Hornets matched them taking a 7-3 lead by the halftime. Fullerton went up 10-4 in the third quarter and then locked down the win holding UCLA to only 2 goals in the fourth.

Brooklynn Peters had a solid game with 3 goals and 2 assists. Kealia Amorin, Neva David, and Julia Schlachter all chipped in with 2 goals apiece. Robin Gaudette also had 2 goals and added an assist. Victoria Lupotti had a goal with an assist, while goalie Madison Lewis was strong in the cage with 5 saves on 11 shot attempts.

Up Next: No. 4 seeded Fullerton (8-2 overall) plays in the Division 2 Regional Quarterfinals vs. No. 5 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (9-1 overall) at UC Santa Cruz's East Upper Field this Saturday, April 12th at 9:00 am. If the Hornets get past the Mustangs, they will move on to the Semifinal match later in the day at 1:00 pm on the East Lower Field.
