WOMEN'S SOCCER: OPEN WITH A WIN

Fullerton opened up the 2016 season with a 5-2 win at home on Friday against Palomar College.

The game was scoreless until the second half when the Hornets exploded for 5 goals.

The Comets put up the game's first goal in the 65th minute on a shot from the left side by Grace Busby.

Fullerton tied it up three minutes later when Emily Valdez took the ball down the sideline and floated the ball over to the inside post where Marlena Carrillo knocked the ball into the back of the net.

Pamela Zavaleta ran through the ball knocking one in from the left side by Carrillo in the 78th minute.

FC struck again two minutes later on a shot Kassandra Hernandez with the assist coming from Carrillo.

Palomar scored their second goal on the day on a solo shot by Busby in the 83rd minute.

The Hornet put the game away with unassisted goals by Emily Valdez (85th minute) and Irene Jimenez (88th minute).

FC goalie Kennedy Heywood had 4 saves and 2 goals against in 90 minutes of game time.

Up Next: FC (1-0 overall) will host El Camino College on Tuesday, September 6th 2:00 pm.
