WOMEN’S TENNIS: THE HORNETS TURN IT AROUND 

Hornets comeback from a tough loss earlier in the week against Riverside, and won a tough one against San Diego City College on Friday 6-3. 

In doubles play, the Hornet's Mayumi Okubo and Lael Cardinal had no trouble winning the second match after the Hornets lost the first match. Mayumi Okubo and Lael Cardinal defense was stellar. They didn't allow the other team to get on the scoreboard 8-0. Celeste Esquivel and Kim La also won their match however they had everyone watching the match in suspense. After going back and forth with the opposing team, the Hornets third doubles match score was 8-6. 

In singles play, Delany Ashe and Bree Lovering came up short. With the Hornets starting to fall behind in the scoreboard Mayumi Okubo answered the call and put Fullerton back on a win streak. She made a statement by winning her match 6-0, 6-0. Kim La also stepped it up and put Fullerton back up on the scoreboard winning 6-1, 6-1. Celeste Esquivel continued the winning and she gave Fullerton a lead by winning her match 6-1, 6-4. Continuing with her stellar defense in singles play. Lael Cardinal clinched the win for the Hornets by having an impressive performance on both defense and offense 6-0, 6-0.
 
Up Next: The Hornets (5-3 overall) will host Cypress College on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 pm. On Thursday, March 1st FC will travel to Saddleback College, the match starts at 2:00 pm.
