WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: TWO SOLID OEC WINS

The Hornets ended up their spring break with a double win! The Lady Hornets traveled to Santa Ana College for their second OEC meet of the season.

Sophomore, Jasmine Mendoza had a great day on the track. She ran her best times of the year in the 100M 13.24 and won the 200M in 26.87.

Mendoza went on to take second place running 1:16.58 in the 400M Hurdle race as teammate Samantha Duong won the race in 1:05.68.  Duon gave herself another win in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 16.94 and running close but not her best time of the year in the 200M in 27.17.

Kim Flores earned a win in the 800M with 2:45 and Belen Gonzalez won the 1500M with an effort of 5:15.24.

The field events gave the Hornets a few personal records. Raena Ramirez of GWC took the win in the javelin as Duong and Madison Fitzpatrick picked up the second and third place.

The Personal Records (PR) came from Cydney Chavers in the shot put as she won it with a toss of 35' 4".

"It is clicking with my throws and this week I can see a difference", claimed Chavers.

Amber Hernandez got on board and threw her PR of 31' 5.25". Cydney is ranked 8th in conference and Amber climbed to 12th place in the shot put event.

Madison Fitzpatrick had her PR in the javelin 82' 1" and discus with 91' 4".

For both the men and women, in the throws, the Hornets had 12 total PR's on the day.
